Dfcu DRAGGED TO COURT BY FORMER CRANE BANK EMPLOYEES

Written by  Aug 23, 2017

10 former employees of Crane Bank which was forcefully taken over by Bank of Uganda (BOU) have dragged DFCU on behalf of 700 others to the High Court for breach of contract and unfair dismissal.

DFCU which bought Crane Bank for a meagre UGX175b in October last year had promised to continue employing the plaintiffs but reneged on the deal closing numerous branches of former Crane Bank and retrenching employees under the guise of restructuring.

The former of employees of property mogul Sudhir Ruperalia who contend that their dismissal or sacking contravened the Employment Act are represent by Isaac Ssemakadde of Center for Legal Aid.

This follows a plethora of cases that have been simultaneously filed following BOU’s takeover of Crane Bank.
