Kampala Metropolitan Police have arrested a man for allegedly obtaining goods by false pretence and issuing a bounced cheque. The suspect identified as Edwin Bekunda Atukunda, founder of Edwin Foundation Tea Initiative

(EFOTI) issued a bounced cheque of Shs 10 million to a client which led to his arrest. His arrest triggered hundreds of suspect’s creditors to flock Kampala Metropolitan Police headquarters. The outgrowers said he had got seedlings from them but had failed to pay and went into hiding. {googleads right}

The total claim from out growers is to the tune of Shs523 million. However, some of the complaints are civil in nature and complainants were advised to seek remedies in courts of law. The suspect has been transferred to Fort Portal to face criminal cases of obtaining money by false pretence and issuing a false cheque.{googleads right}
