A cross-section of parents of Gems Cambridge, an international school in Butabika, Luzira have petitioned the school’s board of governors to voice their dissatisfaction at the school’s current poor management and staff discontent.

The parents who have threatened to withdraw their children if no action is taken cited poor pupil grades, staff discontent, rumor mongering and teacher strikers among others as reasons that have informed their latest action.

They accuse the principal of recruiting his incompetent wife to act the HR manager of the schools which damages the reputation of the school and raises serious issues of conflict of interest.

This follows a simmering strike by teachers that has been going on for months now complaining of incessant reduction of their already low salaries and fellow teachers being humiliated in front of pupil.

One of the parents we talked who preferred to remain unknown for now said “My plan is to switch my children to another international school at the end of the term. I cannot stand this circus. We pay a lot to these people, we are extremely busy and they seem not to see it.”

Our repeated calls to Neville Sherman, the school’s principal were in futility.
