Affairs headquarters–Mbuya hill. Mr. Gressly was accompanied by the head of MONUSCO office in Beni, DRC Mr Warner Ten Kate. The meeting focused on the current heightened operations against Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) in Eastern DRC and finding possible ways of working together in supporting the DRC Forces to stop the mayhem caused by ADF in Eastern DRC.
Mr David Gressly thanked the Ugandan leadership and their counterparts in DRC for working together in conducting joint operations that recently saw the destruction of many ADF camps. “The recent areal and artillery bombardment by Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) inflicted heavy casualties on ADF and we shall continue to give the Congolese forces (FRDC) enough logistical support to continue with the current operation” He added. He promised to work closely with the Ugandan military and Government authorities to expedite a better population protection mechanism as the counter ADF operations continues. The CDF Gen.Muhoozi extended his sympathy and that of UPDF to MONUSCO for the losses and injuries inflicted by ADF to its personnel in the recent past.
He noted that ADF has taken on a new posture of being an international Jihadist group with recruits coming in from within and beyond Africa. “Uganda has since been worried of the continued freedom of Action ADF enjoyed in Eastern DRC and it is therefore the right decision by the DRC leadership and UN to mount pressure on them and finally defeat them. UPDF will continue to give unlimited support to our colleagues the FARDC whenever called upon” the CDF said. He called upon the UN to meet their promise of supporting the Joint Follow Up Mechanism Centre established in Kasese to enhance timely coordination and sharing of information on the ADF and any other negative forces along the common boarders. The meeting was attended by among others,by the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Maj Gen Joseph Musanyufu .
