The moment BOU received the request, they filed a formal complaint with the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) requesting him to prefer criminal charges against the businessman. This is according to the government newspaper New Vision of July 25.
Well…the only interpretation to make out of this is that BOU never expected Sudhir to defend himself or even file a defense because barely a week passed after he took initial steps to defend himself for BOU to move in a different direction.
If this isn’t blackmail and intimidation presided over by a powerful mafia inside BOU, Gov’t, New Vision, and high powered lawyers designed to grab someone else’s assets, what is it?
A retired judge we spoke to told us that whether it’s a civil or criminal case, BoU will most likely lose as they demonstrated gross incompetence in doing their job.
It’s BoU which is more interested in mediation not Sudhir as this would make easier the grabbing of assets as has become routine in Uganda.
If you read New Vision’s accounts on the Crane Bank saga, they always say a source or New Vision report. Kabushenga’s goal is to blackmail and intimidate into subjugation. He’s conducting a media trial of Sudhir Ruparelia. New Vision in the last 3 weeks or so gives BoU’s account, BoU’s lawyers’ account. When will New Vision ever give Sudhir’s story the way they used to?
