Police has arrested demonstrators who were protesting against the rampart women murders in the areas of Entebbe, Nansana and Wakiso.
Residents of Kitooro, in Entebbe Municipality marched around Entebbe road holding placards demonstrating against police for not providing them security in accordance to the constitution. Police took action and more than five people were apprehended during the demonstration that was organized by local leaders.
Some of the arrested demonstrators have been identified as Ms Aloyo Daisy Lugonjo, councilor and Speaker of Division B Entebbe Municipality.
Demonstrators blamed police and security agencies in the area of doing nothing as women raped and killed every after two weeks. The procession started from Nakiwogo Landing Site to Kitooro where they were supposed to hold a rally to find lasting solutions to the murders that have claimed the lives of about 23 in Wakiso District since May this year.
Police later intervened and foiled their demonstration as they had started burning tyres and blocking roads.
