The Media team attached to the commission of inquiry into land matters were on Monday evening robbed of their properties  worth millions.  The media team which consists of various media houses was residing at Visitor's

Guest House in the middle of Fort Portal municipality.

The commission moved to Kabarole District on Saturday where it is conducting public hearings and expected to return to Kampala on March 1. Among the stuff stolen included laptops, cameras, phones, money among other equipment.
Five staff including the manager of the place are in police custody and the affected journalists recorded statements today in the morning.  The affected journalists included Jordan Mubangizi (NBS TV), Isaac Baligema (IPL), Jamil Ssekajja (Star TV) and Ismail Lukwago (UBC TV) who lost properties worth over sh20m!. {googleads right}

It is believed that the thugs trailed the journalists from Mountains of the moon hotel where the commission is conducting public hearings and worked with the hotel management to steal the properties.
The commission is handling a number of land related issues in the Rwenzori sub region which involve 'big people'. {googleads right}

The commission Chairperson Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire ordered the RPC, DPC and OC station to ensure that the culprits are brought to book and lost items recovered.  "We treat this as an attack to the commission because the journalists are here for the commission so we don't take that lightly! However, we shall not be intimidated and I want you people to ensure those wrong characters are brought to and have the items recovered," Bamugemereire said.{googleads right}
