Police have publicly blamed Internal Security Organization (ISO) for the brief disappearance of Congolese national, Ms Nganga Bibiche. The law enforcement body has been at loggerheads with the internal security outfit over

criminal investigations. “It has now emerged that Ms. Nganga Bibiche Bola, the Congolese lady that was widely reported as having been kidnapped on 23, Feb 2018 from Lower Konge, in Makindye Division was in the hands of ISO, according to her testimony,” said Police spokesperson Emillian Kayima on Thursday. “She resurfaced this afternoon at her home in Lukuki, Makindye Division and the area police immediately went to her home and recorded her statement,” he added. “She claims that she was kidnapped by unknown people dressed in military fatigue with assault rifles and was in detention since then up till today 28, Feb 2018 after 5 days.” This will not be a surprise as ISO recently kidnapped New Vision Journalist Charles Etukuri from his office in Kampala.{googleads centre}

Reports of nationals and foreigners being kidnapped threaten to destroy the country’s reputation as a safe place for investors and tourists. This could as well negatively impact of foreign exchange inflows needed to build a resilient economy. Kayima says the area police are “investigating this matter to establish who were behind these acts that continue to evoke fear among the citizens.” He expressed police commitment to “continue to work closely to stamp out such acts and all acts of criminality to guarantee citizens safety and security.{googleads centre}
