Former Cranes striker Geoffrey Massa was on Wednesday night shot by cops who suspected something peculiar in a parked vehicle along the Northern by-pass at the Nambooze Flyover.
Night shift cops stopped and tried to talk to the car occupants but Massa sped off in a rush sending more suspicion. According to KMP spokesperson Emiliano Kayima revealed that in an attempt to stop them, officers attempted to shoot the tires of the vehicle and subsequently injured the lady in the vehicle.
“Massa suddenly stopped, almost hit another motorist and allegedly hit his forehead on the windscreen, injuring himself’’’ He said. The footballer was rushed to a nearby clinic called GWATIRO and received medical attention. The woman friend, one Josephine Maliza, 25 years of age got a bullet wound and is equally getting treatment at the same facility.
The police have opened a General Enquiry File (GEF) to establish the truth behind the incident.
