The Committee on Foreign Affairs led by Hon.Bigirwa Norah today appeared before the Committee on Budget to present their report on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Missions on the Budget Framework Paper for FY 2024/2025.
The Committee recommended the provision of a budget line worth Shs 6bn to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to cater for the post-summit NAM and G77+China activities, for the next three years.
However, the Deputy Chairperson of Foreign Affairs Committee, Hon. Fred Opolot told the Budget Committee that no budget was provided for the post-summit activities.
Committee on Foreign Affairs also urged the Budget Committee to prioritise funds for international subscriptions in order to protect Uganda’s image abroad and to safeguard her interests. Uganda’s international subscription arrears stand at Shs41.86 billion.
