Alcohol Drinks Control Bill 2023 meets stiff resistance

Members of the Uganda Alcohol Industry Association are concerned about the proposed Alcohol Drinks Control Bill 2023 noting that it will negatively affect the economy.

The members who include manufacturers and dealers, have said that the right to trade would be restricted once the Bill is passed and subsequently, over a million Ugandans will lose their jobs!

The members are currently engaging with the State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite and the Minister of State for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, David Bahati.

The controversial Bill which continues to cause a lot of debate within the public was recently tabled in Parliament by Tororo District Woman MP, Hon Sarah Opendi.
