The Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Uganda the Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa has said that passing of the Anti homosexuality law was the best thing that Parliament did in 2023.
Tayebwa was speaking at the Parliamentary Christmas Carols celebrations at Parliament where the Arch Bishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev Dr Kazimba Mugalu was the main celebrant!
“passing into law the Anti-Homosexuality Act is one of the greatest thing the 11th Parliament did in 2023, because many people called expressing their appreciation, something that rarely happens” Tayebwa said!
“This House isn’t very easy your Grace, it is very difficult to make a decision here and you receive a call to say thank you. And that is why this year has really been great for us, at least there is one decision we made and we received a call to say thank you. And that is passing the Anti-Homosexuality Act. Someone else would say, what else would you have done, that is what you are supposed to do. But when you fail, they roast you,” said Tayebwa.
The law was passed early this year attracting criticism from the international community get Ugandans supported it unanimously!
