Kampala, March 25, 2025
Prominent businessman Eria Mubiru has been interrogated by police today (25th March 2025) in connection with the sudden death of 23-year-old Martha Ahumuza, who collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances after collapsing at Mezzo Noir, a popular nightclub in Kololo on 19th March 2025.
Mubiru, known for his deep connections in Kampala’s nightlife by hosting socialites was questioned after investigations revealed that Martha had spent several hours at his residence before heading to Mezzo Noir on the night of her death. Police sources confirm that detectives are gathering evidence leading up to her collapse, with Mubiru’s home now under scrutiny as a possible crime scene.
Martha, a fresh university graduate and daughter of Sezi Murari, the Head of Media at the Office of the National Chairman of NRM (ONC), was reported to have visited multiple places on the day of her death, including Aurus Restaurant in Kololo where she had lunch at about 5:00 PM before spending the evening at Mubiru’s home. She then proceeded to Mezzo Noir past 1:00 AM, where she suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, only to be pronounced dead on arrival.
While sources say that the initial post-mortem suggested that Martha died of a brain aneurysm, her family has remained skeptical, fueling speculation that foul play may have been involved. This has led to a wave of accusations, arrests, and even the temporary closure of Mezzo Noir. However, emerging details are shifting the focus from the nightclub to Mubiru’s residence, where she reportedly spent significant time before her final hours.
Investigators have not ruled out any possibilities, including the theory that Martha’s condition may have deteriorated before she ever reached Mezzo Noir. Witness accounts indicate that she had been drinking throughout the day, and medical experts confirm that excessive alcohol consumption can trigger fatal aneurysms. However, the circumstances surrounding her time at Mubiru’s residence remain unclear.
“Why was Mezzo Noir immediately blamed, while other locations Martha visited, including Mubiru’s home, were not given the same level of scrutiny?” a source close to the investigation questioned. “Could something have happened there that contributed to her death?”
As emotions run high, Martha’s family has expressed frustration over the investigation, believing that there is more to her death than what has been officially stated. However, some observers argue that grief-driven accusations could be overshadowing critical facts.
With Mubiru’s interrogation today, police are now widening the scope of their investigation to determine whether his involvement in Martha’s final hours played any role in her untimely death.
The interrogation of Mubiru marks a significant shift in the case, and more developments are expected in the coming days. As police continue their probe, the truth behind Martha’s death may soon be uncovered.
