In a recent development, Nakawa Magistrate Court issued a warrant of arrest for Molly Katanga in connection to the murder of her husband, Henry Katanga. The warrant, dated January 22, 2024, cites charges under Section 11 and 189 of the Penal Code Act Cap 120.

Henry Katanga, a businessman , was discovered dead in his Mbuya, Kampala, home on November 2, 2023. Court proceedings have already led to the remand of Molly’s daughters, Martha Nkwanzi Katanga and Patricia Kakwanza alias Tricia, along with house helper George Amanyire and Charles Otai, to Luzira prison on charges related to the businessman’s death.

Although Molly Katanga has also been charged, she is yet to appear in court. Her lawyers claim she remains hospitalized due to injuries sustained in a reported altercation with her late husband on the same morning. According to Kampala Associated Advocates, Molly has undergone multiple surgeries, leading to complications such as stagnated healing, persistent scabs, blackening of certain scalp regions, and dizziness affecting her mobility.

In light of these challenges, Molly’s legal team argued for a brain MRI scan to identify the underlying causes of her health issues. The case has taken a complex turn involving wealthy military families employing state organs to advance their interests. The Katanga family asserts that Molly intentionally caused her husband’s demise, while Molly’s associates present her as a victim of domestic violence, emphasizing injuries from alleged physical assaults by her deceased husband.
