Busia LC5 Chairperson Remanded Over Theft of Gov’t Vehicle Spare Parts!

Busia, Uganda – May 5, 2025 —

The LC5 Chairperson of Busia District, Wasike Stephen Mugeni, has been remanded to Masafu Prison following his arrest over the alleged theft of spare parts from a government vehicle.

Mugeni was apprehended on Friday at his district office by operatives from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit. He was subsequently arraigned before Grade One Magistrate Special Avako, who read the charges before ordering his remand.

The allegations involve the unauthorized removal and theft of spare parts belonging to a government vehicle under the district’s management.

His arrest marks yet another incident in the government’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on corruption and abuse of office by public officials. Mugeni is expected to return to court for mention of the case as investigations continue.
