Honourable Justice Simon Byabakama has been reappointed by the President as the Electoral Commission Boss along with his term.

Byabakama, and his team’s term had ended on January 07, 2024 but in a letter to the Speaker of Parliament dated January 05, 2024, the President reappointed him and his team to the position.

This week, Parliament refused to consider the Electoral Commission budget since the body’s leadership term had ended.

The President’s letter was copied to the Vice President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

The former Court of Appeal Judge now begins another 5-year term that will see him and his team manage the forthcoming coming LCI elections as well as the much anticipated 2026 General elections.
