The Committee on Public Service has asked government to fast track the process of rationalisation.
The Committee on Public Service and Local Government recommended that shs79.3 billion be provided for rationalisation of government agencies in the financial year, 2023/2024.
The Committee Chairperson, Hon. Mapenduzi Ojara , brought the recommendation before the Budget Committee and said that the expenditure will cater for payment of pension, gratuity and severance packages for public servants affected by the process.
However MPs on the Budget Committee chaired by Hon. Patrick Isiagi, however, said that legislation on the rationalisation process be handled first before appropriating the funds.
