The High Court International Crimes Division has ordered for the deportation of a Portuguese National Carlos Alberto De Almedia E Costa after he has been convicted of sexual exploitation.
The same court has also sentenced Carlos to serve four years at Luzira prison. However, this period will lapse on 2nd / June/2024 having been on remand since 2020
Carlos is a beneficiary of the judiciary’s plea-bargain program where suspects plead guilty to offences in exchange to lighter punishments.
According to the plea-bargain agreement endorsed by Justice Andrew Bashaija , Carlos has also deposited 30 million shillings with the court’s registrar as compensation to the victim; a 16 year old girl he paid for sex.
Justice Bashaija ordered the Ministry of Internal Affairs to deport Carlos back to his country after serving his sentence.
Carlos, a former resident of Busibante Village in Kira Division in Wakiso district is said in the months of April to May 2020 to have received and harbored a minor by means of the abuse of power by giving her payments to achieve her consent for the purpose of sexual exploitation
