Four of the five people implicated in the murder of businessman Henry Katanga which occurred about three months ago have appeared before the High Court for hearing of their bail application.

The four including the deceased’s two daughters Martha Nkwanzi and Patricia Kankwanzi who are facing charges of destroying evidence, a Shamba boy George Amanyire and Medical Worker Charles Otai who face charges of being an accessory after the fact of murder. These have appeared before the Criminal Division Judge Isaac Muwata.

Court filled to capacity as family & friends followed proceedings

However this has not been possible as the DPP through State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya expressed discomfort to respond to the application and its supporting affidavits saying the documents served to her office are of poor quality and unreadable to enable her to file her response .

As a result, the Court has shown the sureties of all the accused persons who included their relatives such as husband, brothers , mothers in law and fathers in law most of whom are powerful prominent business people.

Justice Muwata has adjourned the bail hearing to the February 12th 2024 for mention before he sets the ruling date. The accused persons have now gone back to Luzira Prison until then . The key suspect in this case is Molly Katanga the widow of the deceased who is facing murder charges and has been on remand since last week for shooting the husband to death. End
