Gov’t to Roll Out Compulsory Ideological Patriotism Training For S6 Vaccists

The Government is set to start compulsory ideological patriotism training to all Senior Six Vaccists beginning this year, eye witness has learnt.

According to the Commissioner for National Secretariat Patriotism Corps MS Hellen Seku, their tentative program is that all S6 Vaccists will undergo training at the National Leadership Institute -NALI for atleast three months.

She said this directive will be implemented through writing a circular to the Ministry of Education and then to the Resident District Commissioners to liase with all concerned stake holders to see how it can be achieved. Seku adds that depending on advice from other stakeholders , the Vaccists are likely to spend a little bit longer on training as they to aquire hands on skills that can enable them earn a living and promote wealth creation.But the proposal is that they spend three months as they are being taught to love one another and the country as well in order for improved development.

She made the remarks on Tuesday while at the pass out of S3 and S5 Gayaza High School Students who had been undergoing a Patriotism training for five days.

Seku also asked the Students who were preparing to break off for the holidays to take care of themselves saying that evil men are out there ready to soil a girl child. She asked them to protect their Patriotism certificates adding that it’s one document that earned her a job in the President’s office.

According to Article 17 (2) of the Country , it will be the duty of all able-bodied citizens to undergo military training for the defence of this Country and the Constitution whenever called upon; and the State shall ensure that facilities are available for such training.

On her part, the Headteacher Gayaza High School Robinah Kizito decried to the commissioner for Patriotism the High Cost of conducting a Patriotism training saying that government needs to intervene and share the cost with the organizers.

She encouraged the students to preach to their parents during the holidays lto respect and love one another and the need to protect the environment so as to mitigate the effects of climate change.

 

While at the pass out, different students shared their experience saying the Patriotism camp has been a thrilling experience and that the morning jogging and drills have been a good experience which also kept them fit.

Others narrated that they have learnt persistence, perseverance, resilience , self defence and pledged to be loyal and committed to their country.

The school further commended Seku for sending them useful and experienced staff from her office to train them and also foe adopting the President’s initiative.
