Honourable Asuman Basalirwa (MP for Bugiri Municipality) who was the mover of the Anti-Homosexuality Act has blasted the American government over visa ban for more than 300 Members of Parliament.
Basalirwa said that the legislation (Anti-homosexuality) is the most popular law in the history of the current Parliament.
He distanced himself from the recent statements made by the NUP President , Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu ,that the Opposition MPs were influenced by President Museveni to pass this law.
“As a country, we must stand on the ground. God who created us will make us survive, this idea of saying we are cutting aid, we don’t go to America, Britain, yes it is their right. But nobody should determine how we think,” added Basalirwa.
He asked his fellow colleagues to remain firm amidst threats and pressure.
