Jessica Alupo launches Patriotism Course for Head teachers in Kyankwanzi!

In a bid to foster a sense of national pride and civic responsibility among educators, the Vice President of Uganda Jessica Alupo haa inaugurated the Patriotism Development Course for head teachers of the Western Region at the National Leadership Institute (NALI).

The initiative, organized by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps, aims to equip educators with the tools to instil a strong sense of patriotism among their students.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Vice President Alupo, who highlighted the pivotal role education plays in shaping the values and ideals of the younger generation. She emphasized the need for educators to not only impart academic knowledge but also cultivate a deep love for Uganda.

“I believe that education is not just about textbooks and exams. It is about molding responsible citizens who love their country and are committed to its progress,” Vice President Alupo remarked during her opening address.

The Patriotism Development Course is a comprehensive program designed to provide head teachers with insights into effective strategies for incorporating patriotism into the school curriculum.

Topics to be covered include the history and cultural heritage of Uganda, civic duties, and community engagement.

Throughout the course, participants will engage in interactive sessions, workshops, and discussions led by experts in patriotism education. The aim is to empower head teachers to create an environment that fosters a strong sense of national pride and a commitment to community service.

The National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps headed by Commissioner Hellen Seku, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports, expressed its commitment to expanding such initiatives across the country. The organization believes that instilling patriotism from a young age is crucial for building a united and prosperous nation.

Participants expressed their enthusiasm for the course, acknowledging its relevance in shaping the character of future generations. Head teacher Muzoora Juliet of Bweranyagi Girls School Bushenyi district stated, “This program is not just about teaching; it’s about nurturing responsible and patriotic citizens who will contribute positively to the development of our nation.”

The Patriotism Development Course at NALI is part of a broader initiative by the Ugandan government to strengthen civic education and national pride. Vice President Jessica Alupo urged educators to embrace their role as catalysts for positive change and emphasized the need for collaboration between schools and communities to achieve this goal.

In her conclusion, Vice President Alupo expressed optimism about the impact the Patriotism Development Course would have on shaping the values of Uganda’s future leaders. The government remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a patriotic and united nation, with education playing a pivotal role in achieving this vision.
