Kabaka returns home after visa expiring!

The Kabaka (King) of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has returned to the country after months of getting treatment in Germany and Namibia.

The monarch was welcomed by Sylvia Nagginda, the Nnabagereka (Queen), Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro (Prime Minister), and other kingdom officials.

Kabaka returned home depsite a wish to extend his stay in Namibia was rejected by the authorities in Namibia due to what they termed as diplomatic embarrassment as sections of people from Buganda claimed that the King had been exiled.

These demonstrated around several Namibia missions abroad which caused diplomatic issues. In July a section of Bataka (clan leaders) were arrested in Namibia about 200 km away from a location where the Kabaka was receiving treatment from. These were accused of not having authorization from neither of the Kingdom authorities nor the government of Uganda.

It is not clear what illness that the Kabaka had but sources indicated that he was in a mental health facility. Since the Kabaka had wanted to stay, it is not clear whether he will go another location or hospital for further management.
