Minister Nankabirwa assures the Public on oil, updates on the progress

The Minister for Energy, Hon Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, has updated the public the public on the progress made so far in the oil and energy sector.

Nankabirwa said that over 700 km of roads, Kabaale Industrial Park, Kabalega Airport, and expanded electricity supply.

According to the Minister, these initiatives enhance connectivity and living standards in the Albertine Region.

On the Kingfisher Development Area Project, Nankabirwa said 99% land acquisition, 11 producer wells drilled, and infrastructure development underway.

“Midstream Projects: EACOP receives construction license, contracts issued, and early works in Tanzania. The Uganda Refinery undergoes a shift to public sector leadership with strategic negotiations in progress,” said Nankabirwa.

National policies emphasize participation, value creation, and retention within Uganda’s economy. The Petroleum Authority of Uganda enforces best practices, including National Content development and cost efficiency.

“Uganda’s oil and gas projects align with global cleaner energy campaigns. Technological innovations minimize the carbon footprint, making these projects ‘low emission.’ We prioritize sustainability and environmental responsibility” explained the Minister.

She updated on the Tilenga Project where over 85% progress in the Industrial Area, detailed engineering at 80%, and drilling in full swing.

Nankabirwa said that land acquisition is  at 98% and noted that this demonstrates Government’s commitment to fair and responsible practices.
