Minister Tumwebaze hands over Wet processing equipment to farmers!

The Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry has handed over wet processing equipment to 75 farmer co-operatives from the coffee growing areas by the Uganda Coffee Development Authority.

The equipment will help on farm processing which will give them better on farm gate prices.

Minister Tumwebaze at the function argued farmers to organize better under the respective district farmer associations or cooperatives saying that this will create better and enabling structure for them to deal with government and other partners.

Since Tumwebaze was appointed a Minister, a lot of successes have been made as his Ministry been seen distributing tractors and other farming equipment to promote mechanized agriculture. The sector currently contributes 24 percent to GDP with coffee alone bringing to the economy close to one trillion!

The farmers who received the equipment appreciated government for this support which they said will boost their farms both in quality & quantity!
