Just a few weeks back we informed you about the racket of Mafias who are fighting the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Permanent Secretary Ms Geraldine Ssali Busuulwa for her stance against corruption and misuse of government funds.

The racket, whom the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anitah Among described as ‘mercenaries’ had hatched a plan to mudslide Ssali with an aim of having her fired.

The racket include a group from the Ministries of Finance and Economic Planning and Ministry of Trade plus a team of Members of Parliament.

Through the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), a bogus report recommended the firing and prosecution of Ms Ssali for alleged misuse and embezzlement of government funds.

Min of Trade reinstated Accounting Officer

Indeed, a few weeks back the Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary Mr Ramathan Ggoobi dropped Ms Ssali as the Ministry of Trade’s accounting officer.

However, this week the President (who is the appointing authority) ordered Mr Ggoobi to immediately reinstate Ms Ssali as the Ministry of Trade’s accounting officer!

Ms Ssali will go down in history for saving government funds totalling to over Sh80 billion that the Mafias had wanted to steal by pushing the Ministry of Trade head office to shift from Farmers’ House where it only around Sh1.4 billion per annum on rent to a private building where it would spend Sh8 billion on rent for 10 years!

Looks like the President knows all the games of the ‘mafias’ in the system!
