President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pardoned the former Managing Director for National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Chandi Jamwa who was serving a 12-year jail term at Luzira Prison for causing financial loss to the fund.
Jamwa has pardoned with 12 other prisoners.
Jamwa was convicted in 2019 by the Head of the Anti Corruption Court Justice John Bosco Katutsi who also ordered that he would not access any public office for a period of ten years after serving his sentence.
Between September and November 2007, Jamwa sold in his capacity as the NSSF Boss, sold several Government bonds held by the fund before their maturity dates to the now defunct Crane Bank at prices below their then discounted value thereby causing an unfavourable price variance of over Sh3.1b!
Court noted that he knew and had reason to believe would cause and did cause financial loss to the fund.
