Museveni pays tribute Cecilia Ogwal

The President of Uganda Gen Yoweri Museveni has paid tribute to the fallen legislator Cecilia Atim Ogwal who succumbed to Cancer on Thursday in a hospital in India last week.

President paid tribute to the late Cecilia Ogwal at Parliament on Monday evening after a Special seating of Parliament in which legislators honored Ogwal’s works.

Museveni was accompanied by the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni at the event. Museveni in his message said that he closely worked with Ogwal even when they belonged to different political groups “Despite belonging to different political parties, we often worked closely together. Her ability to work with the NRM taught us the importance of collaboration despite our differences” Museveni said.

Museveni also thanked Cecilia Ogwal for being a person of integrity, ethical and not corrupt but also who didn’t like politics of hate, “Cissy was a strong and ethical leader who rejected the politics of hatred, a sentiment shared by others like Mao and Akena” said Museveni.

On her part the Speaker of Parliament the Rt Hon Anita Among thanked the President for coming to Parliament to pay tribute to Cecilia Ogwal despite his busy schedule.

“We are grateful that he has chosen to honour our departed mother, mentor, colleague and inspiration Imat Cecilia Ogwal by his physical presence even when he has been in the middle of the Non Aligned Movement and the G -77 plus China conferences” Among said.

Cecilia Ogwal will be laid to rest on Saturday 3rd Jan 2023 at her home in Kole District!
