The Parliament is continuing to scrutinize the 2024/25 national budget, with several Government Ministries, Departments anf Agencies (MDAs) expected to defend their budgets.

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is expected to defend its budget before the Finance Committee. The Committee will also scrutinize the budgets for Office of the Auditor General, Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority among others.

The Defence and Internal Affairs Committee will interface with officials from Uganda Police and National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA).

The Auditor General report faulted URA for failing to collect over Sh52.238b in gold exports.

The reported notes that this has denied Government revenue for service delivery.

URA blamed the delayed collection of gold taxes on the an interim order issued by Court, halting  the collection of this tax until concerns raised by the gold exporters are settled.
