Police shoots man for slaughtering a goat amidst quarantine!

Police in Ibanda have shot and injured a one Kamwesi of Rukiri Subcounty in Ibanda South constituency in Ibanda District for allegedly refusing to adhere to the Foot and Mouth Disease and Anthrax guidelines.

It is further alleged that the victim was found slaughtering a goat animal in the wee hours of Saturday and shot him as he tried to run away.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries institute a quarantine in over 30 districts in Uganda due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease and Anthrax and in this quarantine people were stopped from selling meat or milk transporting animals or even eating them.

Police was not available for a comment by the time we filled this story while Kamwesi is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ibanda
