Politicians eulogize Cecilia Ogwal!

Politicians across the political divide have mourned and eulogized the fallen Dokolo Woman legislator Cecilia Ogwal as one of the most strong charismatic leaders that Uganda has produced!

Kiiza Besigye the former FDC President a Party where Ogwal belonged until her death described her as having been a highly competent and charismatic leader, “the passing of Cecilia Ogwal who has been a strong and charismatic leader in our country for quite a long while, one of the few brilliant women leaders, it’s a terrible loss for the country” Kizza Besigye said

The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among while announcing her passing called her a mother mentor and role model. “I announce the passing of our Mother, Mentor and role model Imat Cecilia Atim Ogwal, the Honourable Member representing the Women of Dokolo District. I send my sincere sympathies to her dear husband and the family, friends, the people of Lango and colleagues” Among stated as she mourned Ogwal!

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa also mourned Ogwal referring to her work in Parliament as instrumental. “This loss is deeply felt, not only by Uganda, but by the entire world, especially the parliamentary fraternity” Tayebwa said!”  You were instrumental in guiding and shaping local leaders, as well as advocating for a just global agenda where the voice of the global south was heard” said Thomas Tayebwa!

Frank Tumwebaze, who is the Minister of Agriculture also mourned Ogwal saying she was objective “Despite being in opposition her positions were always anchored on logic and reason and not extremism” Frank Tumwebaze.

Others who mourned Ogwal included the former Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda who described her as an icon, former Speaker & current Minister of East Africa Rabbeca Alitwala Kadaga, Presidential & President’s son in law , Advisor Odrek Rwabwogo, Gen Edward Katumba Wamala and others.

MPs Mwijukye Francis, Nyakato Asinansi, Kamara Nicholas, David Kabanda are among the many that have mourned Cecilia Ogwal!

Besides being a politician, Cecilia Ogwal was a human rights defender, a woman activist, a business lady and a person of high moral integrity who spoke truth to power. She also won the Uganda Ladership Award among the aging leaders who were awarded who included Dr Elly Karuhanga, Amama Mbabazi and others.

She was also a miis Uganda during her youthful days. She died at 77
