The President of Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC), Felix Tshisekedi, is in the lead after preliminary results from the diaspora at 80%.

However, the entire Opposition especially the main challenger and former provincial Governor Moise Katumbi has labelled the presidential election as a ‘massive fraud’ and wants the vote to be annulled.

The five other opposition leaders have called for a protest march against the results on Wednesday December 27th.

“We will protest against the irregularities noted during the voting operations,” they said in a letter to the governor of Kinshasa, where they plan to rally.

44 million people in the mineral-rich Central African nation were registered to vote in the elections to choose the country’s next president, national and regional lawmakers, and local councillors.

Tshisekedi is running for re-election against 18 opposition candidates after his first 5-year term ended; according to the DRC constitution, a President can only serve for a maximum of two 5-year terms.
