The National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps-NSPC has urged citizens to embrace core values of patriotism which include loving Uganda and one another for the betterment of the country.
A team of staff from the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps which is headed by Ms Hellen Seku on Thursday joined other government agencies to show case various services offered by the secretariat as the Nation celebrated the 13th Africa Public Service Day.

The Communications Officer at NSPC Ian Gumisiriza told our reporter that they appeared with student members of patriotism Clubs from their respective schools. The Secretariat also offered leaflets, magazines and other literature to members of the public who paid a courtesy visit to their stall.
Gumisiriza said there are misconceptions from people about patriotism where some think that it’s partisan and go on decampaigning the Presidential initiative not to be embraced in schools. However, he said they participated to explain to the public that this is a national strategic program aimed at teaching values of loving a country and one another regardless of one’s political affiliations.

It is only the Patriotism stall that the Vice President Major Jessica Alupo who was the Chief Guest inspected and interacted with the staff prior to the official function.
In his speech read by the Vice President, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni urged public servants to eradicate corruption and cease working in cliques, emphasizing that these vices hinder citizen inclusiveness in policy implementation and thereby impede economic growth.
He challenged public servants to deepen their roots and achieve more in service delivery, emphasizing the need to eliminate corruption, increase and accelerate the speed of service delivery at the grassroots level, and build partnerships with stakeholders worldwide.
