The Speaker of Parliament of Uganda has met the leaders of Uganda Alcohol Industry Association ahead of Parliament debate on the Alcohol Control Bill.
The team was led by their patron Onapito Ekomoloit and according to the Speaker, these voiced their concerns on the said bill.
Accordingly to Among, “the association voiced concerns about the Alcohol Drinks Control Bill 2023, which they say if passed in its current form, will have far reaching revenue and employment impacts on the industry and economy” Among tweeted!
Speaker Among advised the association to articulate their concerns to the Committees on Health; and Tourism, Trade and Industry – where the Bill was referred for processing.
Alcohol Control Bill was presented to Parliament by Hon Sarah Opendi the Tororo District Woman MP as a private Members bill and it seeks to control alcohol use and sale!
