Tayebwa applauds Justice Kanyeihamba!

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament the Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa has applauded Retired Justice Prof George William Kanyeihamba.

This was during Kanyeihamba thanks giving held at Namirembe Cathedral on 31st Dec 2023. “we gathered together to express our boundless gratitude to God for his immense contributions to the growth and progress of our beloved nation, as we basked in the presence of the remarkable Professor, who at 84 years old continues to inspire us all, it became abundantly clear that moments like these are truly rare and must be cherished” Tayebwa remarked.

“Professor George Kanyeihamba is an extraordinary individual, a living embodiment of legal wisdom and an unparalleled asset to our society’s advancement” said Tayebwa.

Tayebwa continued to applaud and appreciate Kanyeihamba for his work in politics and constitutionalism of our country! “Through his extensive publications, legislation, and imparting knowledge through teaching, Professor has left an indelible mark on Uganda’s legal system. His landmark judgments have forever shaped our jurisprudence, and we are indebted to him for his groundbreaking contributions” he stated.

Tayebwa said he was grateful for the impact that Kanyeihamba continues to have on his own life, “I cannot emphasize enough the profound impact this remarkable individual has had on me, both academically and politically. I offer my deepest respect and appreciation to him, and I am forever grateful for the influence he has had on my life and the lives of countless others”

George William Kanyeihamba is an author, a retired Supreme Court Judge, and a former cabinet minister and Member of Parliament. He chaired a Commitee that drafted the 1995 Uganda’s constitution and he is one of the pillars of constitutional law in Uganda.

Present was Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Dr Miria Matembe and Hon Kyagulanyi among others.
