Tayebwa to represent EAC on Organisation of Africa, Caribbean & Pacific countries!

The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa has been elected as the East Africa’s representative to the Organization of Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Countries Parliamentary group.

The election was held in the ongoing assembly on Luanda Angola over the weekend.

Comprised of 79 Member States from Africa, the Caribbean and the new Pacific, the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) strives to achieve the sustainable development of its Members and their progressive integration into the world economy

Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Anita Among congratulated her Deputy for the victory and appreciated him for the commitment.

“The trust colleagues in the region and continent have shown in you is a true reflection of your commitment to the African cause. Thank you again for hoisting the Parliament and National flag high in Parliamentary Diplomacy” Anita Among said in her congratulatory message.

The Prime Minister and Leader of Government business in Parliament, Robinah Nabbanja also congratulated Tayebwa for the election.

“Your election is a vote of confidence in your ability and I have no doubt you will effectively represent our region” said Nabbanja.

On his part Tayebwa promised to champion the interests of African countries in this forum.

“I will be a voice of the global south as we engage with our colleagues from the European Parliament” said Tayebwa in his message after being elected
