The Speaker of Parliament of Uganda the Rt Hon Anita Among has said that Uganda is set to benefit immensely from the ongoing Common Wealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference that is taking place in Kampala today.
Speaking at the event on Thursday morning, Among outlined some of the benefits that included; widening our diplomatic frontiers for cooperation through Parliamentary diplomacy, enhancing tourism and trade, shaping the image of Uganda among the international community of nations, harmonization of our legislation and parliamentary practices and procedures, Respect among partner states irrespective of size, clout, values, cultures and traditions and where disagree, we must do so respectfully and uniformity in legislation and leveraging our international appeal as a hospitable destination.
The Conference has kicked off today and is going to end on the 6th January 2024
