Nakalema engages Government Communicators on protection portal

Col Edith Nakalema, Head of the State House Investors Protection Unit, has engaged with government communicators on the significance of the recently launched electronic investors protection portal by President Museveni.

The Statehouse Investor Protection Unit, was established under article 99(4) of the Constitution and aims to address concerns of both domestic and foreign investors, ensuring a conducive investment climate in Uganda.

“The unit has actively engaged with key stakeholders, including government agencies like Uganda Investment Authority, Uganda Registration Services Bureau,  National Environmental Management Authority, Kampala City Council Authority, and others, to coordinate efforts in addressing investor-related concerns.” Said Nakalema.

Nakalema said that they have received several complaints since the inception of the organization.

“Since its inception on July 26, 2023, SHIPU has received and coordinated over 186 concerns from investors, covering issues such as fraudulent activities, bureaucratic delays, land matters, and complaints about immigration.”

The unit, according to Nakalema, is dedicated to supporting indigenous investors, collaborating with ministries, the Bank Of Uganda, and commercial banks to ensure domestic investors benefit from government interventions.
