The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Anitah Annet Among has asked the public to stop poking their noses into the upcoming royal wedding of the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Nadiope IV which is scheduled for this Saturday at Jinja.

In the recent past social media has been awash with unfounded rumours of a woman who claims to have married the Busoga King.

She asserted that there is no law in Uganda which bars any man from having more than one wife.

“If they are saying he has many wives, who tells you a man should have only one woman? Let the man go and wed his inhebantu. For us we support the wedding and as Parliament we want to congratulate him and we shall continue praying for the family,” She said.

Meanwhile, the Speaker has doubled down on her warning to Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) who have continued to snub plenary sittings, saying she has started counting the number of times MPs clock in.

She said action will be taken against any MP found to have missed 15 consecutive sittings.

“I will not get tired of reminding you to clock in and I am counting days. We are using taxpayers money so when we see people who do not want to come to the House, then we know they should be accountable for what they are doing,” said the Speaker.
