Parliament vets justice Elizabeth Musoke

The Appointments Committee of Parliament has today morning vetted Justice Musoke who was appointed to the Judicial Service Commission. The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of Parliament the Rt Hon Annet Anita Among and attended by the members including the Leader of Opposition in Parliament the Rt Hon Mathias Mpuuga. Justice Musoke was appointed to the Commission by the President and successfully vetted by the Appointments Committee as per the law.

The Judicial Service Commission is a body that appoints all judicial officers in the country except Judges who are appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Commission. The Speaker said after the exercise that the report of the vetting exercise will be sent to the appointing authority (The President) for action.

Justice Musoke worked with the Ministry of Justice for several years and left at the rank of Principal State Attorney to join the Inspectorate of Government as Director Legal Affairs in 1999. In July 2013, she was appointed to serve as a judge of the High Court of Uganda, assigned to the Civil Division, serving in that capacity until October 2015, when she was elevated to the Court of Appeal, which doubles as the Constitutional Court. In November 2022, she was appointed by H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the Supreme Court as a justice of the High Court until date.
