Rebel attack on Kamwenge, 10 killed, 7 missing- Security deployed

It is now close to ten hours since the suspected ADF rebels invaded and attacked Kamwenge District where ten lives have been claimed including a woman councilor, a one Night who was burnt into ashes. Security has swung into action on the crime scene and is hunting for the suspected rebels. he bad news were first released by the area MP Cuthbert Abigaba Mirembe who expressed his condolences to the families and thanked police for swinging into action as quickly as possible.

The area councillor Tyryahebwa Naris whose collogue councilor was murdered expressed his fear, “we are all in fear, we dont know what is going to happen next” he was quoted saying. It is also suspected that 7 people who had gone to cut timbers in the forest are still missing meaning that either they were captured and recruited or else could have been killed as well and their bodies dumped.

Majority of those killed were working in a farm of one Dr Twebaze Byabagambi where they were attacked and killed with pangas and machetes.  Gruesome photos of the dead are already circulating on various social media handles. The eye witness say that the said rebels wanted to go along with these people but when they resisted they decided to kill them, while others who were killed were vulnerable people especially women and elderly.

The Kyabandara area boarders with both Kibale National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park and it is suspected that rebels travelled through Kasese to the area. It was a hub of ADF between 1996 to 2000 when the said rebels were flashed out. Five days ago, two rebels were killed in Kibale National Park.

These rebel attacks follow an attack on a school in Kasese that left 42 students dead and another attack that killed two tourists, a driver and game wardener
