Members of Parliament across the political divide have assured Ugandans of many benefits that the country will get from the 27th Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference scheduled for 3rd to 6th January 2024.

Hon. David Lukyamuzi Kalwanga (NUP) is among MPs who are enthusiastic about this conference, “once this event is handled well, we shall all benefit as Ugandans. Let everyone fulfill their respective responsibilities” he said.

Hon Alex Brandon (NRM) asked Ugandans to be positive about this conference, “we are going to have the biggest ‘basamas’ (people from foreign countries) in the world coming to Uganda let us as Ugandans be positive in terms of mindset and optimism” Said Brandon!

He added that this was because of the good diplomatic status that Uganda has in the world, “I am proud and we as a country should be proud that we have chosen to host high-level delegations through this Conference, it shows that we are steady in terms of security and diplomacy and that we are highly trusted. It brings to us a sense of pride hosting this conference” Brandon said.

Meanwhile Kalwanga said it was important to put politics aside and focus on promoting our country, “this time, it is not about politics but promotion of our country, showing how good our country is, and hosting well the people coming in. If there are any loopholes, we shall look into improvement” Kalwanga Said.
