UPDF wants 62bn for Operation Nshuja!

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces has asked for 62 billion shillings to deploy in the Democratic Republic of Congo where they are hunting for ADF rebels.

This was revealed as the Minister for Defence Bamurangaki Sempijja and his state Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth appeared before the defence Committee chaired by Nyabushozi MP Wilson Kajwengye to defend the Ministry’s budget!

Although the UPDF’s total desired budget is Shs9.123Trn in 2024/25, only Shs3.880Trn has been availed, leaving a shortfall of Shs5.242Trn.

The Army wants Shs62.8Bn for deployment in DRC where they deployed two years ago to hunt down the ADF terrorists!

ADF rebels have become a menace with recent attacks having been carried out in Kamwenge District during the Christmas season in which a total of 13 people were killed.

According to sources, there has been significant progress by the UPDF in the DRC as they hunt down the ADF terrorists where many of them have been killed and their bases destroyed!
