The newly appointed Leader of Opposition Hon Joel Ssenyonyi held a consultative meeting with the Speaker of Parliament the Rt Hon Anita Among on how to conduct business as the Leader of Opposition.
The closed door meeting was held at the Speakers chambers in Parliament. During his formal announcement, Speaker Annet Among asked Ssenyonyi to always consult her as per clause 14 of the Rules of procedure of Parliament.
Ssenyonyi being new in the office of LOP but also a first timer in Parliament, was consulting his boss the Speaker on how to conduct business in Parliament.
A section of NUP supporters always accused Mpuuga of having a good working relationship with the Speaker of reason he was dropped and replaced with Ssenyonyi who apparently was radical.
However political pundits say that Ssenyonyi can’t do much without working with the Speaker who is the overall controller Parliament. It is also known that having been an opposition legislator before becoming a Speaker Among enjoys a lot of influence and support from both opposition and NRM making it hard for the Ssenyonyi to work well without her blessing!
