Parliament of Uganda has informed the public that it will take charge of the burial arrangements of the fallen legislator Cecilia Ogwal which occurred in India yesterday.

The communication has been made by Chris Obore the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs at the Parliament of Uganda.

The communication was made after the Forum For Democratic Change Party where Ogwal belonged made a program that was posted on their social media handles which Obore has challenged!

“The burial of the late Hon Cecilia Ogwal is the responsibility of parliament not the FDC party . Please disregard the purported burial program released by the FDC on it’s social media platforms” Obore stated.

The Speaker of Parliament together with the family, will release the funeral arrangements. We urge the FDC to observe the bare minimum of respect and decency and not vulgarise the final journey of the hugely respected Hon Cecilia” Obore tweeted.

According to the law, Parliament takes charge of the program and arrangements for any legislator who dies while in office. However it is most likely that Cecilia Ogwal may be granted an official burial or state funeral by the President of Uganda!
