Speaker of Parliament the Rt Hon Anita Among has asked the Church to pray for Parliament, saying the institution has already buried four MPs within two and half years. She made the plea while addressing mourners at requiem mass held at All Saint’s Cathedral in Nakasero, to celebrate the life of former Dokolo DWR, Cecilia Ogwal.

The Speaker also paid tribute to Cecilia for mentoring female MPs by encouraging them to love their families, husbands and children, saying the deceased emphasized the need for the female MPs to fulfil their marital and motherly duties in their homes.

“She told us ladies one thing, even when you are a Member of Parliament, you must go and cook for your husband. You must go and look after your children, issues of being MP stops in Parliament  when you reach home, you are a wife and that is what she would tell us as women MPs,” said Anita Among.

Speaker Anita Among also commended Cecilia for mobilizing MPs to come to Parliament to debate and pass into law the Anti-Homosexuality Act in 2023, saying Cecilia’s efforts proved her commitment towards upholding family values in Uganda.

These words were said at a funeral service held at Nakasero Cathedral in Kampala as the Speaker joined dignitaries to pray for Cecelia Ogwal.
