LOP hosts ambassadors from the European Union!

The Office of the Leader of the Opposition in Parliamentary hosted 11 Ambassadors from European Union in which a wide range of issues were discussed .

According to the Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, key among issues that were discussed included human rights violations, missing persons, those incarcerated for years without trials kicking off like Olivia Lutaaya, among other issues.

“Just like we urged Religious leaders, we also urged the Ambassadors to condemn injustice in all its forms” Joel Ssenyonyi said while addressing the media after the meeting.

Issues of human rights violations have remained a contentious issue in Parliament of Uganda to the extent that in 2023 it led Opposition MPs to boycott Parliament for a whole month.
