FDC, NRM, UPC Nominate Candidates for Dokolo By-Election!

Candidates from three major political parties have stepped forward for the upcoming Dokolo by-election.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has selected Dr. Rosemary Alwoch, daughter of former MP Cecilia Ogwal, as their flag bearer.

Janet Adongo Elau, who previously contested under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in 2021, will represent the party once again.

The Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) has nominated Sarah Aguti Nyankori.

These three candidates are part of a pool of more than five women vying for the seat left vacant by the late lawmaker Cecilia Ogwal, who passed away on January 18, 2024.

Nine more candidates are expected to be nominated on March 12, 2024.

The nomination process took place at the Dokolo District Electoral Commission offices.

The by-election is scheduled for March 21, 2024, with campaigning permitted from March 13th to the 19th.
