Happening Now ; Vice President Alupo, Seku  Arrive  in Kaweweta for Patriotism Coordinators Pass out! 

The Vice President of Uganda Her Excellency Retired Major Jessica Alupo has arrived in Kaweweta at Oliver Reginald Tambo School of Leadership and Pan African Excellence to preside over the pass out of 170 National Patriotism Coordinators representing all districts and all schools in the country .

Upon arrival, the Vice President was welcomed by the Commissioner for National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps Ms Hellen Seku who was the host of the nine days long training . The Commandant of the School Col Justus Rukundo also witnessed the arrival.

The group of Coordinators to be passed out is comprised of Head teachers , Deputy Head teachers and teachers from different schools both Government and Privately owned. It is also composed of staff from the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps who have been undergoing a refresher course.

This is all courtesy of the government of Uganda through Ms Seku led Patriotism Secretariat which is under the Office of the President .

Immediately after the arrival, the Vice President visited the office of the Commandant Col Rukundo who told her a brief history of the school.
Rukundo said the duty of the school is to teach and train the Defence Forces Leadership and prepare them ideologically so as to have the necessary competences to conceptualize, analyze and understand the Global Dynamics of yesterday, today and project the possibilities of the tomorrow.

The Vice President planting a tree shortly after the arrival as the Commissioner for Patriotism Ms Hellen Seku looks on and other officials behind.

He said the historical significance of Reginald Tambo School is that it has served as a Training ground for liberation forces like the NRA and ANC combatants and all of whose liberation effort resulted into African Peoples freedom hence naming it after the former ANC President Oliver Reginald Tambo.

Rukundo said the training is important for today’s Leaders, Military or civil, so as to ably manage the Human material and Financial Resources available to any globalised environment and resources.

He said the students they teach are mainly from UPDF, Uganda Police and Uganda Prisons Services, internal security officers and also once in a while civilians.

The Commandant explained that  the course lasts between four to six months depending on the package designed for any specific Leadership category.

Col Rukundo informed Retired Major Alupo that they recently held transformation courses for karamoja leaders and did historical course for Boda Boda leaders who were all passed out by the President.

He informed the Vice President who is expected to give a lecture   opportunity that the Coordinators to be passed out have been anxiously waiting for her .

While in the office , Commissioner Patriotism Secretariat Seku said the retreats were in the past being taken to Kyankwanzi but they decided to change this time round.

Ms Seku said that the coordinators were appointed by the President in 2009 but they had not gotten a chance to do a retreat despite serving for 13 years.

As such , Seku said that she found it fit bringing them to Kaweweta for the staff in her office to bond with the coordinators and also to remind them of the mission of patriotism.

She said the coordinators were handy during the previous elections.

In response to the briefing given to her , the Vice President has appreciated the
Commandant Col Rukundo for the duty he is doing on behalf of the government and having the mandate to do grounding for national security forces and civilians.

Alupo said they are very proud of the UPDF adding that the Commissioner Seku has been very active in ideological training .

She said she has interfaced with Seku in areas of income generation during the mobilization tours called by the President Museveni.

Alupo commended Seku for moving from Kyankwanzi to Oliver Tambo saying that this shows her good relationship with the forces and versatility to work with other people
