Commissioner Seku Asks Youth to Conserve Environment, Uphold Moral Values

The Commissioner for National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps-NSPC and also the Private Secretary for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in charge of Youth Affairs, Ms Hellen Seku Addressing Rubaare Secondary School students on Saturday in Ntungamo District.

 

Ms Hellen Seku, the Commissioner of the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) Office of the President, urged students to prioritize environmental conservation, protect their values, and make informed choices.

Speaking at Rubaare Secondary School’s Patriotism pass-out event on Saturday , Ms Seku emphasized the importance of preserving Uganda’s natural resources for future generations.

“As young patriots, it’s your responsibility to safeguard our environment. “Your actions today will determine the health of our planet tomorrow.”, said Seku.

The Private Secretary to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in charge of Youth Affairs Ms Seku linked environmental conservation to patriotism, stressing that loving one’s country means protecting its natural heritage.

“Uganda’s beauty is in its in natural resources, like lush forests, pristine lakes, and vibrant wildlife, “Let’s work together to preserve these treasures”, she said.

Additionally, Ms Seku addressed the critical issue of premarital sex, citing alarming statistics . She indicated that 600 youth get infected with HIV every seven days.

“To young girls, you are the treasure of this country; don’t let boys and men ruin your future with baseless promises. To young boys, you are the kings of the future; don’t let girls and women distract you with earthly features,” Ms Seku cautioned.

The Patriotism Commissioner Ms Hellen Seku together with some NRM Mobilizers who attended the pass out at Rubaare Secondary School in Ntungamo District.

She further encouraged students to focus on their studies, value themselves, and avoid risky behaviors.

Ntungamo Resident District Commissioner Isiah Kanyamahane praised Commissioner Seku’s efforts, saying, “Your passion for patriotism, environmental conservation, and youth empowerment is inspiring.”

On her part, Rubaare SS Headmistress Monic Mpeirwe thanked Ms Seku for instilling environmental awareness and values in students.

Student Shepherd Nuwagaba pledged to lead fellow students in environmental initiatives and promote responsible behavior.

The event, attended by 927 students who underwent patriotism and ideological training, aimed to inspire young Ugandans to become value driven citizens loving one another ,their country as well as being environmentally conscious inline with Patriotism objectives.
